I think you will have to make a sacrifice on either quiet or convertible...since both really can't exist simultaneaously.
I also think that the europeans have been making unreliable junk for a while now...and this includes the previously vaunted uber-reliable volvo.
Quiet, fuel efficient, manual, fun to drive can all be had exclusively from Toyota or Honda...this includes their upmarket brands of Lexus and Acura....although I know of no manual acura's or Lexi.
HAve you thought about a few year old prius? My 2002, under warranty for 6 more years and 50,000 more miles is quiet, extremely fuel efficient, somewhat fun to drive, although more for uniqueness then adrenaline, and while reliabilty is declining, the dealership is making my entire transmission replacement painless with a car to drive, and a new transmission for a total cost to me of ZERO.
I could probably sell for 12-14k as is.
