Thanks for the ideas everyone!

I got some of the 3m Poster Mounting Tape which is double sided and seems relatively sturdy for something that looks like regular scotch tape. I tested already on a metal surface by hanging a cd on the underside using a quarter inch by 3/4 inch piece. This should do very nicely

Ample - Unfortunately, the elevator is basically a wood coffin with an incandescant light in the middle. There isn't anything to lift there, but good idea anyway!
