Windows Won't Boot Up

When I left my computer last night everything was fine and when I came down this morning I saw this message flashing across my screen:

{For Realtek RTL8139(x)/8310/810X PCI Fast Ethernet Controller v2. 13 (020326)
Pxe-E61: Media Test Failure, check cable
Pxe-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.}

I'm running XP home edition and it doesn't even begin to load - it takes an usually long time to load from the startup screen and directly to this error message. Now I can enter the BIOS but there aren't any settings that seem to be out of the ordinary.

Intel Pentium M 1.60 GhZ
512MB DDR2 SDRAM (2x256MB)
60 gig Hard drive
Internal 802.11b/g WLAN

Any idea what's gone wrong?
