a conversation between me and my ISP
Me: “hey I ordered your faster package 3 months ago, and I’m not getting faster speeds”
Charter: “what problems are you experiencing?”
Me: “I’m not getting the speeds that I am paying for”
Charter: “due to network limitations of some sites you will not always get the full speeds we offer”
Me: “I’ve done some benchmarking on several different sites and I see no difference in speeds prior to the upgrade, can you check the settings”
Charter: sounds of typing and conversation in the background.
Charter: “ok sir I’ve checked the settings and you have been upgraded”
Me: “were you able to check my cable modem in that time, or did you just check your database?”
Charter: “the database, they are the same”
Me: “please check my modem it self, maybe some one skipped over mine.”
Charter: “ok hold on.”
Charter: more sounds of typing, for longer this time.
Charter: “ok I checked and you have been upgraded.”
Me: “The modem with the MAC of **:**:**:**:**:** ?”
Charter: “yes”
Me: “Then why is my modems config file listed as the old config file?”
Charter: “we use the same name on the config file…”
Me: “Then why is my modem’s max down stream bit rate way lower than it should be”
Charter: “well…”
Me: “and why is my modem’s max up stream bit rate way lower than it should be”
Charter: “you should not have access to that page, it’s locked and you should not be messing with your modem to unlock it.
Me: “your people forgot to lock it, just like you forgot to change my bit rate, you know what I’m done with you, what’s your name and transfer me to your supervisor”
…
I hope he got fired.
