I have to agree.
As far as the chances the baby has of a good, normal life... well as good of a chance as any other child. From the article it sounds like the girl's mother is supportive. Hopefully, she will be willing to pitch in and help her daughter raise the child.
Should the boy be given jail time? I am not sure. What message is that sending? It is not OK to have sex at age 15 with an 11 year old? I'm pretty sure that message is out there. I think he needs to take responsibility for what he has done. I think he should be made to get a job after school and help with the financial responsiblilities.
Now before you all get your panties in a bunch, hear me out. I am not saying I condone this behavior. Honestly, I am totally opposed to it. However, I don't think throwing the kid in jail and making the mother do this by herself is the right thing to do either.
Children are being exposed to sexuality at a younger age than they used to be. However during the middle ages, marriages at 11 and 12 were common place, granted the average life expectancy wasn't much passed 35. In our society we feel this behavior is appaling and should be punished. We need to jump back into the current century and deal with these situations. We certainly don't want to reward this type of behavior, but we don't want the punishment to come down on the unborn child either. What will the father learn in prison? How to be a criminal? Great.
