I sure hope that's not the reason, because if it is, clearly those "big wigs" have never read an X-Men comic book. Gambit's powers are not "close" to Cyclops's powers. Oh well, if this is truly the last movie, good or bad, then I guess we'll likely never see Gambit in a live action movie, unless they make that rumored Wolverine movie and Gambit is somehow a character in the film.
