I just picked up this game "Missing" today. It's unlike any game I've played before. I think it's pretty neat, so I thought I'd introduce it to you guys in case you want to try it yourself...
The premise of the game is that a journalist and his friend were kidnapped while researching a 30 year old murder. The police receive a CD-Rom from the kidnapper, and per his request, distribute the CD hoping that people can help crack it and solve the case.
So the game's CD is a copy of the CD that was given to the police, and you have to help solve it's cryptic puzzles to find the victims. Each part of the CD that you figure out results in a video clip of the kidnapped journalist & his friend. The neat part is that you often must go outside of the game to get your answers. Internet searches & e-mail are a big part. The really cool part about this is that the web pages & emails are so authentic that sometimes you don't know if you're looking at a real web page, or one that was created specifically for the game. It makes the story and characters feel very real.
