I don't know of any fast cures, but I have learned of one way to help block some of the pain without using the numbing gels that often cause problems for the rest of your mouth. If you cover the sore with a thin layer of vaseline, it acts as a kind of seal to keep out saliva and food and helps cut back on the pain while not affecting the rest of your mouth in any way. It eventually wears off of course, but it's better than nothing!
