Gin - if you are getting fancy go with Tanqueray 10 or Hendrick's otherwise Bombay Sapphire is a nice mid-range gin
Vermouth - how can you have a martini without the vermouth?
Lime Cordial - essential for serving Gimlets
Scotch - single malt or blended... just don't buy the cheap stuff
Ouzo and/or Patis - Anise flavoured liquors... just add a splash of water to make the clear liquid turn cloudy and you have an excellent apertif.
