Going against a gale in a smelly old misrigged leaking pathetic fat toad of a sailing boat. It took maybe three hours to travel one nautical mile. We were in no hurry and I was the most experienced sailor onboard. Looking back, I should have taken us back to the port, but I was 18 and stubborn. Was scared shitless though, thought the tiller would snap in my hands several times.
