The condom thing is my first guess- I know that on some of the condoms I used to try out I would be alllergic to whatever kind of lube they had on them.
If you've just started being sexually active, then I'd suggest going to your OBGYN anyway, as it's time to get the plethora of STD tests and a pelvic exam.
Also, don't forget to go to the bookstore and get The Guide to Getting it ON! by Paul Johannes. Best human sexuality book on the planet, IMHO.
