This is just stupid. IMO this simply sounds like it's simply a power play by the Police Chief in some internal political battle.
It'll do no good. I've had cops patrolling the UT campus at night asking for ID's, I simply tell them to fuck off. Are they good people? probably. Are they good cops? probably.
But unless I give some sort of suspision of crime I expect them to leave me the hell alone.
