My girlfriend has a foldable keyboard for that exact purpose and it works like a charm. I'm wary of anything that recognizes handwriting, it tends to be somewhat imperfect. If you're a decent typist the keyboard will serve you well and working with it isn't so far different from using a full-sized desktop keyboard. I picked it up instantly when I tried it.
