I'm with mal. I'm traveling 5 hours by train this weekend to go see my family for a belated holiday. Is it worth it? Absolutely. I get to see my brother, my parents, all my cousins, and my uncle--as well as my newest family member, my little baby cousin.
It's your choice to stay home.
