I knew that fire engines are red because it's visible and it's tradition, but I also believed that red made them faster.
I had a real reason, too. I heard something on the radio about the color red, when looking at the miniature atom proton DNA sort of level (science), actually had less resistance to air. I don't know anything about science, but on this radio show they had mentioned that red things move faster on some gazillionth of a per cent type of scale.
Anyway so my cub scout troop visited the fire station one day (my dad was both a boy scout leader and a firefighter) and I mentioned this and got laughed at, and it was humiliating, especially because I knew I was right.
