The biggest problem I see with this guy and in this post is the amount of ignorance. I am not trying to cut anyone down nor am I reffering to this particular guy (though I do think racist on all sides are ignorant). What I mean is the number of people who are questioning where this guy is comming from. Asking why he is racist or has these feelings when it should be obvious. Its a sad sad world that history, what should be the single most important subject in school, is mostly breezed over. Even those who bothered to pay attention, or had a real good teacher, seem to take the single most important thing from history (class or otherwise). That is they don't take history and use it to explain the world as it is today. The fact of the matter is that whites and blacks in america are not equal. Even today, in the year 2006(?), and yes, racism still abounds. Now it is true that slavery is offically over and everywhere you see equal opportunity employers and the effects of affermative action. Why do we have these things though? Are they not just way for black people to get things they don't deserve? Take the job of a better suited white person? Now, take a step back in time with me. Not to 1855 mind you, just to 1955. Now to some of us, myself included, 50 years seems like a long time. However, in the grand scheme of history and changing the world its really not. Anywhere here ever hear of Rosa Parks? Yea, yea I know, old black lady, just died, what oh what could she have to do with this racist bastard? Now really, I should be able to leave it at that, people should be able to get my point and I could move on. However, I feel I should elaborate, seeing how some people probably need this. Here is the thing, as recently as 50 years ago there was a little thing called segregation. Now see segregation was a bad thing for race relations. Basically the point was something like this "If we can not have you as slaves we are going to atleast act as if you are sub humanbeing and treat you as such on a daily basis". The problem with race relations in America today is the bulk of white America seem to think of segregation (and slavery for that matter) as some little thing that happened years ago. This if of course a colossal fallacy. Think of it like this, after years of enslavement they were freed, but then what? Highly uneducated (the fact that the ability to read was a crime punishable by death on most farms sure didn't help this) and they didn't own anything. On top of that there was the newly formed KKK doing lynchings whenever they could find an excuse. This went on well into the 1920 atleast, and almost always completly unpunished. So anyway, fast forward a few years, black man gets shot, yea yea. The cival rights movement had one fatal flaw. Even after disbanding segregation, even after giving black people the vote, even after finaly getting around to, you know, taking those wacky KKK lynchers to trial and stuff. The bulk of the black community where still grandsons and great grandsons of slaves, still poorly educated and poor. Now (hopefully..) none of this information was new to any of you, and I am sorry abount the rant of (what should be but is mostly glossed over these days) 6th grade history. I gotta ask you this though, did you think of any of this when you watched this guy speak? Did you ever consider it before when considering black/white racism? Ever think about the fact that yea, slavery may be gone, and yea these people complaining about it may never have been slaves, but does that mean they were not effected by it?
One last thing, its the so you think you are not racist test. Here is what I want you to do. Close your eyes, imagine you are walking alone, imagine you have a hundred dollars in your pocket, now imagine a large black guy walking behind you.
One last last thing. For those who are wondering, I am 21, white, male, two daughters and made less then 10,000 this year.
