Attended the world famous Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot in Knob Creek, Kentucky this past weekend.
www.machinegunshoot.com This event draws people from around the country and even internationally - and for good reason. The only thing that could make it more fun would be to add a bevy of hot chicks going braless in belly shirts and low-rise jeans.
The gun club has two ranges: an upper range for the "big guns" and the lower range for the "little guns". Lined up along the front of these ranges are dozens upon dozens of people standing 4 - 6 feet apart blasting away with full auto machine guns. The targets include school buses, cars, boats, hot water heaters, refrigerators, and propane tanks. The air is filled with the beautiful smell of gun powder and burning "targets", a cacophony of spit fire from the grease guns and "kabooms" from the .50 cals, and the light from tracer and incendiary bullets. It is quite an experience for the senses.
A few of the registered shooters (primarily on the lower range) rent out their weapons for your use. I paid $60 to shoot 25-rounds of .50 cal from a Browing M2 on the upper range, and $60 to shoot 30 rounds of .223 from an M-16 and 30 rounds of 9mm from an HK MP5. No pun intended, but it was a freakin' blast.
If you guys are ever looking for a great road trip, this would be one. There is the Patton Museum nearby and you can stay in Louisville, which isn't too far away and has great restaurants, bars and hotels. The shoot is every April and October. This was my second trip to the shoot and it was even better than the last one.
