You know Documentaries are always a break through type of genre. Also horror films are easy to make first time movies. If you are trying to make an artsy piece of crap like "Lost in Tanslation" or "sideways" then you can't take my advice. Plot lines along the premise of sports reality are kind of cool, but you have to like sports. Most film students simply don't. Don't do comedy it never works the way it should. You need to develop deep characters. more than just how they interact with the movie but so deep that people want to know how they live their everyday life. You could do a sort about a kid who joins the Army out of college and goes through Iraq and coems back a differant person for better or for worse. More than likely you would want to portray it for worse. but your call. Look at sucessfull tv shows and see what makes them a sucess. you are basicly trying to take the time of a tv show and make it into a movie. try to work backwards. anyway all i know abotu movies is i like to watch them. Not too many movies out there that i don't like or find some entertainment value in. One thing that I don't think many people like is making a movie with a political agenda. then again you are catering to a vastly liberal audience so bush bashing may gain you some points. good luck and I am sure you will do fine.
