Ok, bear with me.. I had to think about this for a few days. And it really bothers me. I hope I put this in the right section, if not, Moderators please place it where it should go.
On Wednesday I was heading to the hospital for my MRI to be done on my shoulder. As I was going I decided to listen to the radio. I wish now that I hadn't.
I'm not sure how many are familiar with this radio show but it's Steve and DC. It comes on several different stations but it is a great show to listen to. Until then.
There was a couple on there discussing about the husband viewing porn. No biggie right? She was absolute infuriated. I'm sure alot of women would be. I mean, yes, hubby is looking at porn on the computer and you're laying in the bed waiting for him. I can understand that. But, I'm a pretty open person.
The reason I'm posting this is to hear others thoughts. Guys look at porn. Some ladies look at porn. Some people of both genders have problems with their S/O looking at porn. This is a fact of life.
But, the wife brought this on radio. I am to understand this is a pretty large broadcast radio station. The husband had reformatted his computer and lost some information (pictures fo their children) due to removing a computer virus. So he used a search and recover program to retrieve those. This was on either Sunday or Monday that he did it. However, the wife insists that on Monday night, he was looking at porn while she was waiting for him to come to bed and is basically pissed. The husband denies it and says that he wasn't. She won't believe him that this is pictures from a long time ago when they discussed that he wouldn't do it again.
She insists that he did since the timestamp was... well.. whoops... Monday night. She absolutely insisted that such a thing didn't exist. The caller's that came on to talk and offer their "advice". One said that she was a computer saavy and knew that there were these programs. Another said, there was no such thing and he was definately looking at it. Another said that he thought this was a very embarassing thing to do to the guy by bringing it front of everyone and "airing the dirty laundry".
Being alittle bit of a computer geek but not really, I know there are programs out there that will pull jpg's and such even after formating unless you did the one program to make the harddrive like it came from factory. I'm not going into details on that due to I don't want to be in trouble with with wives that have problems with this.
Now, this brings up the question of... how stupid is she? Didn't she ever stop to think about the government finds old child porn on these people's computers? Or even old information to lead to other things? Emails that were sent between lover's to plot the spouse's murder? What about information from the web for how to use this substance for bad things? I don't know how many times I have watched (I'm so ashamed in a way) Forsenic Files and all those that talked about how this person was caught because of data recovery.
How many believe in this? Would you believe your S/O if they said they weren't looking at those and it was old and was there because of a recovery program? Are you going to not look into whether or not there is a recovery program?
I will say that I have no problem with my S/O looking at porn. I have no problems looking at porn myself. I like looking at some of it as long as it isn't something degrading or horrific.
I would seriously look at this from a view point of his for a moment. I belive him, however, but I feel very sorry for him since she brought it on air. I would be downright ashamed. These people were telling their names. He took off from work to stay half the day to discuss this on air.
However, from her viewpoint, if I wasn't as knowledgeable about computers, I would not believe him. But, I wouldn't be bringing it on air. I would be ashamed of myself for doing that. I would feel like I was on the Jerry Springer show or something. I would be finding someone that I knew that was very knowledgeable about computers and finding out for sure if he had a chance of telling the truth.
Heaven forbid that I wouldn't be as open minded as I am now. So, let's hear it.
