Glad to hear you made it through without too many injuries. A very similar thing happened to my brother years ago, and he was lucky and came out relatively unscathed, with a totaled bike. My dad rides his bike to work daily...he's been doing it for years, and he's been pretty lucky so far, although he's been run off the road. People just don't pay attention, and I think some of them just honestly don't care about cyclists.
