ugh - i remember christmasses like that back when i worked retail... overtime might not be an option, but you might want to negotiate with your boss (in writing) some comp time-- like an extra weeks vacation or a bunch of half days here and there... for the raise - -keep a record of the hours you are working and keep the customer service up to a high standard - if the customers are happy, you've got a much better bargaining chip...

For staff-- school is starting up soon -- what about interns or high school or college work study positions...
