As expensive as it sounds, $1200 isn't really too much for a personal use treadmill. When we were getting new treadmills for the gym I was managing we were looking at $4,000 for the industrial use gym ones! If you live anywhere you can walk outside most of the year, I would think about doing that as Mister Coaster suggested. I'd be curious to hear others experiences anyway.
