Here in Manitoba Canada we have public insurance (gov't insurance.)
All vehicle must have Liability, collision, and comp. Uninsured motorist fund is included in our drivers license premium and every resident has medical insurance if they're hit by a vehicle anywhere in North America.
Your age, gender, driver's license, and past claims history does not make a difference. Anyone could drive my vehicles because it's the car that carries the insurance. There's no limit to the number of drivers. We also have no fault insurance.
I'm 24, male and have about 15 insurance claims. I have been in 6 collisions and I was responsible for 2 of them. I have a few thefts and a few vandalisms. I have had 3 vehicles written off because of the extensive damage to them.
I'm an insurance company’s worst nightmare!
On all my cars I have:
-$100 deductible.
-$5 million third party liability.
-$68 a day to cover a rental while my vehicle is getting repaired.
-$1000 limit on aftermarket stereo equipment.
On the cars I have now I pay approx:
$500/yr - 1965 Dodge Monaco Conv (Show car insd for $50,000)
$400/yr - 1975 Pontiac Grandville Conv
$700/yr - 1988 Plymouth Reliant (Winter Beater)
$800/yr - 1988 Cadillac RWD
$1000/yr - 1989 Chrysler Lebaron Conv
If I claim any damage, all I have to pay is my ded of $100. My insurance premiums never go up.
