I'm 20 years old and have had my G2 for 10 months (full license in ontario is your G, so i'm still a rookie I guess). I drive a 1990 mercury sable GS and pay $184.10 a month, canadian, to be the primary driver on it. Originally I wasn't even going to have a car cause State Farm was trying to stick me with some "compulsory insurance rule". This rule basically stated that if a car(my case) or driver was not insured for a long time, then their insurance rates would be huge; mine was gonna be just over $400 a month for liability only.
But I am also an engineering student, and a membership with an ontario association got me a special group deal through the Personal Insurance Company. They never mentioned this compulsory insurance rule, so I was off to the races. I realize that I probably pay a pretty good rate compared to some others out there, so i'm curious, how much do y'all pay?
Oh, and I also took young drivers for driving school. The insurance company said that it made them think of me as having 3 years experience. Sweet!
I actually heard of someone who calculated the cost of maintaining a car, gas, insurance, etc. and discovered that they'd be paying less money if they took a cab back and forth to work every day. But ah, the freedom can't be beat...

your deciding factor is your postal code believe it or not
in the Greater Toronto Area, if your postal code starts with M like I do, then you are fucked.
I used to live in Waterloo, ON, was paying $60cad/m for an Acura TSX, moved to Toronto, rates shot up to 90, 103, 113, then this year 130, and my records all clean, and I am 34. this is nuts man.
