There is a condition called lichen sclerosis that's primary symptom is vaginal or vulval tearing. Does the skin appear thin or papery-white? Is the skin ichy or dry? Most gyn's don't know the condition, but it is more common than you might think, occurring most often in post-menopausal women.
Have her ask her gyn about lichen sclerosis and see if he/she or another dr. can diagnose it. The first type of treatment is topical steroids.
