Since people are lazy and uninformed, parties are an easy out. Well I don't know this guy, so I'll vote for 'my' party.
Bingo. People look to each party and see which more closely resembles their beliefs and desires, and then just start voting for whomever has the right tag on their name, (R) or (D), regardless of who or what they really are.
