My two cents, do what makes you feel right. I look at some of the kids with metal sticking out all over their body & just shake my head. I tried just about everything as a kid (college was only 13 years ago for me, and I had all sorts of substance fun). From a personal point of view, I don't think guys look bad with an earring. Girls, earrings and maybe a bellybutton peircing.
From an employer standpoint, if anybody comes in looking for a job & has either visible tattoos or metal (aside from earrings) your stay will be short.
