None of my tats are visible, but I didn't put them where they are because of those reasons. I don't see tats or piercings as unprofessional unless they are really tasteless or poorly done. There supposedly is a girl here in Austin who has "Fuck you!" tattoed on her forehead, thats unprofessional, but I think any tat under the neck is seen as ok. As for piercings it all depends on what your planning on as a job.
