Ontario is my preferred airport. It is clean, efficient, and stress-free. Traffic is not usually a problem and it is un-crowded. I suggest anyone flying into the LA area domestically not to fly into LAX. If you are smart, you could pick a time when traffic is not too bad (midday) and you wouldn't have to deal with much traffic getting into LA (about 40 miles to the west of Ontario).
By the way, Ontario is in San Bernardino County, not Orange County. Orange County has John Wayne Airport, which is not bad either.
Also, if you are coming from Boston or NYC, I highly suggest the Jet Blue service into Long Beach airport. Long Beach is the smallest LA area airport, but it is by far the least crowded. It is also only a little farther from downtown LA than LAX.
