Well here is the deal that I heard on the radio. Lakers fans you might not want to read this. Malone does not want to be the third option on a team where two ball hogs allready exsist (lakers) because he would like to break Karem's all time scoring record. He would get more playing time on the Spurs team, and have a better shot at winning a title with the Spurs. Secondly, Malone wants to get paid. The lakers are not in a great position to pick up another big contract, but the Spurs will be under the cap next season. Advantage Spurs. Now we get to Scottie. I would love for L.A. to pick up the Pip's contract. That would mean they would be putting lots of money on a broken down, older player. I am not saying Pip does not have game anymore. It's just that he would also demand a boat load of cash, and the Lakers would have to extend their necks to pay for an older players high salary. They would be stupid to lock all that money into him at this point in his career. Lastly, Kobe has not signed his extension to continue playing for the Lakers!! What does that mean. He is possibly wanting to see what the Lakers managment due this offseason. He know that he is not going to win another title with players like Maddsen and the rest of LA's weak bench. Kobe is very determined to prove that he is the best, and I think that he would like to show everyone that he can win a title with out the aging Shag-fu. So, where does that leave the stability of your franchise? Hopefully you will become the next Washington Wizards when Kobe goes to NY to play for the KNICKS.
