Having problems linking html pages on a CD
I'm hoping this will be an easy one for some of you to answer.
I have a website, and had no problem with linking all the html pages on the internet.
Now, I'm working on an html-based "guided tour" CD as a digital portfolio of my work. The work examples are in pdf format, but when I create the html pages that link to them (and that seems to work O.K. - linking to the pdf files), the pages won't link to other html pages.
I'm using FrontPage Express to create the pages, and I think I'm linking correctly (using "file" - Tried using "Open Pages", but for some reason, FP won't recognize any but a couple as "open pages").
The only clue I have is that when the target file appears in my IE address bar, instead of having the Internet Explorer icon at the far left, it shows the same icon as "My Network Places" uses. In fact, a few times I got an error message stating I may not have the administrator's permission to access that page.
Any help would be appreciated - I need to get these portfolios out soon - my present employer has somehow discovered I'm job-searching, and has started advertising my job on the internet!! They don't know I know yet, but the hammer will drop soon, I fear. In fact, I have a suspicion that the guy I share my office with may be a member here and ratted me out. A couple of weeks ago I started a thread in which I stated my desire to relocate to a better climate.
Anyway, is there an easy answer I'm missing?
Thanks again.
edit: Thought I'd add - this doesn't just not work on CDs - they won't link properly on my hard drive, either.
