An example would be the impending extinction of the California Condor. Although I don't consider myself a full-blown tree-hugger, I am highly concerned with nature and wildlife. For years I have been reading about the certain demise of the California Condor and an idea popped into my head once that stayed dormant until I overheard a staunch environmentalist say the exact same thing: Although humans have contributed greatly to the reduction of the California Condor, its extinction was probably inevitable and would have happened with us or without us.

That is exactly the same way I feel about the Internet.

Our version of the Internet involves technology that we humans can manipulate with our magnificent opposable thumbs. Therefore, we're often somewhat conceited in believing that we caused the Internet. However, I believe we are only responsible for the present iteration and format of the Internet. I believe that a web-like system connecting living beings across the globe was going to happen one way or another very soon anyway.

Not necessarily religion, but something. To me, it just seems to be the obvious next step in a much wider scale of planetary evolution.
