My personal guide to naming a child:
1. The name should be clearly male or clearly female.
2. People should be able to spell the name on their first try.
3. Try shortening the name to its common nicknames. Do you still like the sound of it?
4. The first name should not be the same as any living relative (that's a Jewish tradition that we adopted. Using initials is common in our family, so I went one step further and ensured that the first initial was unique).
