I can speak from my personal experience.

Interracial never bothered me. I was very non-prejudice until I lived in Indianapolis in 1994-95. There I met quite a few interracial couples (99% black male/white female) and they were around my age or younger (27).

The thing that made me really take notice and become racist on this issue, was the fact that in almost all the cases I saw the black man was with a white woman as a social statement and the white woman was either into serious drugs or a true bitch.

I know this experience tainted me for a long time. Now, when I see couples I don't care any more but at that point and what I saw, did affect my opinion for a long time.

I will say, these women that say they will only date a black man bothers me because that in and of itself is racist. It's like me saying I will only date white women (I have dated some extremely nice black women and have no problem falling in love with one.)

I have just found if you love someone the color of their skin, their religion, their ethnic background doesn't matter. But there was a time when my experiences did allow me to have a negative opinion on this topic.

I just love people who use the excuse "I use/do this because I LOVE the feeling/joy/happiness it brings me" and expect you to be ok with that as you watch them destroy their life blindly following. My response is, "I like to put forks in an eletrical socket, just LOVE that feeling, can't ever get enough of it, so will you let me put this copper fork in that electric socket?"
