I'll second that, RJD2's Deadringer just kicks ass all over the place.
Nobody's going to mention Tricky or Massive Attack? I guess the charge might be made that they're more trip than hip hop, but I dig it all the same, and they've got a similar style to DJ Shadow and RJD2.
Tricky's Maxinquaye and Massive Attack's Protection are some great albums.
