The way I understand it, the only really important thing in the Bible for Christians is the New Testament. That's where Jesus shows up, and that's where God stops smiting people. that's a pretty marcionistic view...

i won't tell you you're wrong, but to be orthodox, one would have to affirm the hebrew scriptures much more than that.

there's a lot more going on...the exodus story is a necessity, IMO.
