Years ago in college, I had a teacher who was circumcised in his 30's. Apparently, he had been having troubles with infections under the foreskin. Until then, I had wondered if I had lost something by being clipped, but after that I've always felt that the advantages seem to outweight the disadvantages. Anyway, it's easier to keep clean when circumsized. I don't know what difference it makes besides that.

The practice seems to have come from God's sign of the covenant. All males who were of the covenant were to be circumsized as a sign of their covenant with God. You can call that cultural if you'd like, but I think the majority of Americans still want to be part of that covenant thing.
