And look, what you are talking about are volumes hundreds of times as large as the other, but in this case one was just ~1.3 times as large as the other, which is pretty much no difference at all when we talk about a timespan of several hours. No, I'm guessing the diffused carbon monoxide in the unopened one lowered the freezing temperature just enough so that it wouldn't freeze, like C4 said.
