there are some mayan pyramids (chichen itza) nearby if you feel like enriching your mind
cab ride into town should be about 150 - 200 pesos. don't try to walk.
very touristy town. shouldn't be too dead anytime. bus is the best way to get around. clubs cost up to $25. that supposedly covers drinks, but the bartenders may ignore you unless you tip them handily. pat o'brien owns a restaurant chain.
you can walk the down the beach for the length of the city and check out all the motels. the water looks like the corona commericals.
be prepared to be offered numerous pizzas and cab rides.
burger king is spotless. the employees scrub those windows.
you can see a bullfight if you go to the non-tourist part of town.
cheapest kahlua is $9. no switchblades to speak of. pharmacies are a bit lax. tap water isn't terrible, but you will likely buy it bottled. good to have a hotel with some breakfast. mexican grocery stores have questionable refrigeration policies.
