idk... i think it's a good idea for people who don't care what order they listen to music in. in my mind, it's perfect for the gym (assuming you spend your time lifting/running/biking/whatever it is you do in the gym!).
it's pretty much a flash drive with playback... which i guess is the primary reason it's so small.
considering i paid $159 for a 128 mb mp3 player back in 2003, this seems like a bargain, lol. 872 more mb for 9 less dollars!
as said, if someone doesn't want/need a full blown ipod; just wants something to play music while working out it's a good fit. if you want control over what you're listening to, it's probably a bad idea.
