Overall, I'd say it's good to have a hard line, anyway. Don't bother with long distance, just get a local line. Sometimes you need a land line for some services (for example, if you have a cell phone problem. They require you to use a land line in order to fix your phone). For what it costs, DSL is probably the best bet, anyway. $60 a month isn't too bad - and remember, Verizon owns the world =)


...Damn those colleges for spoiling us with high-speed internet...I knew people who refused to graduate because they liked the connection so well
