Plus I have a 31 year old pickup that makes strange noises with an ever increasing frequency. I can't afford anything, so if my truck breaks down I'm screwed because I won't be able to get to school or to the airport. And the stress of money makes the stress of school and exams and flight reviews even worse. So basically the last two and a half years of my life I've been keeping my fingers crossed, hoping this giant balancing act called my life doesn't fall to pieces.

The only thing I can think about is how I can't wait to finally get out of school and get a job that will allow me some breathing room. I hate the feeling of having my back to a cliff, and hopefully once I get out of school I'll be able to get a good job that will make this 4 years of balancing all worth it.

All I have to say is that college better be worth the time and money and years off my life (due to stress) that it took!

Our lives seem to be quite similar.

I am graduating with a degree in commercial aviation this semester, so I know about the flight cost. I know exactly what it is like to have to study like a normal college student and then have to go fly all the time. The time crunch makes working almost impossible.

I started the program at a satellite school back home. I decided to try and work, do school, and fit in flying where I could. After three years I only had about 1.5 years of schooling actually done. I simply worked to much in order to not take out loans. Then I transferred over to the university and decided not to work so that I could actually focus on my schooling.

I am now $60,000 in debt with student loans, but I will have the piece of paper and a decent GPA. A lot of the kids here are even more in debt. It is a painful reality.

Have you looked into the military reimbursing your loans? You sign up and they pay off some or all of your student debt. I believe (not positive though) they do that if you sign up for X amount of years. I have considered this option, but the fiance has convinced me not to do it.

Good luck!
