Hyperion is good.
Otherworld is kinda sloggy. I would go with the Memory, Thorn and Sorrow books by Williams over that.
Song of Fire and Ice by Martin is great but brutal.
Covenant series left me kinda depressed.
The Briar King series by Keyes and the Ice series by Jones have both started off good.
