I think it harkens back to our primal days. To perpetuate the species, the male wanted to choose a mate that was going to stand a higher percentage chance of nurturing the young to maturity. And that goes beyond the breast to other physical features that we still tend to find attractive today, such as rounded hips (that indicate being able to pass a child through the birth canal).
Then again, I just find that I like to play with ‘em.
