EQ2 is very tough on the machine. Don't buy it unless you have at least a gigabyte of RAM. A graphics card that hasn't seen its first birthday wouldn't hurt either.
I'll be buying WoW soon, although I'm playing EQ2 now. EQ2 is a very thrilling game out of the starting blocks but around level 20 it becomes very much an experience grind. I like PvP combat a lot, and although the cartoony graphics of WoW are something of a turnoff, I know I'm going to be able to run them a lot cleaner than I can EQ2's. With 512 MB of RAM and a Radeon 9600, the more densely populated places in EQ2 become slideshows after an hour or so of play.
The guild system in WoW is also a lot more interesting.
