I reckon it's pretty hard to know what you want to do at 17 or 18. I sure as hell didn't. I agree about taking time out, if you can and if you want to. It was only after I left Uni for 2 years that I realised that I actually wanted to put some effort into studying. If you can think of things you enjoy doing then you can try and think how they might relate to a job. That might help you choose what you might want to study.
