1) Scan the computer for viruses and spyware
2) If that doesn't fix it, reinstall
3) Start by erasing and reformatting with fdisk.
5) Extract the win 98 CD onto the hard drive and setup that way. Then you don't have to use the CD as much.
He also added that win 98 is almost expected to crap out like this.
