I used a Shuttle system for maybe 2 years up until just a few weeks ago. I used it for gaming and as such found that it overheated often. I had to leave the case off and use a desktop fan to help cool the interior. Other than that (and accidentally wiping out my BIOS, oops) I had little trouble with it. Well, if you don't count the hassle of installing components (but once it's up and running you're good). Mine was one of the early versions with only 1 AGP and 1 PCI for open mobo slots, and 1 5.25" drive bay and 1 3.5" drive bay. The newer ones have more options, I believe.
