I'm going to need to modify my NES...

I have an incoming NES top-loading version, and now found that I will need to modify it in order to use A/V cables to connect it.
I found this site with directions: http://www.gamesx.com/rgbadd/nes2avmod.htm
But I have NO idea what it all means. It gives a short list of connectors to buy, and says "connect this here this here that there and whoop-dee-do you're done." Obviously this was written for people who are at least slightly familiar with modifying/soldering systems, but I haven't the slightest bit of experience when it comes to this. So, this is what I need from you guys:
1) A complete list of what items I need to perform this operation.
2) Dumbed-down instructions on how to modify my NES to use A/V cables, including safety precautions.
Also, if you have any idea on how to replace the PPU chip with an old NES PPU chip, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thank you to whoever can help me out!!
