If you have IFC,
This Is Spinal Tap is airing right now (and is supposed to air every Saturday night this month).
This is one of my absolute favorite movies of all time. I'm sure there are a bunch of Tap fans here.
IFC showed a couple of facts before the flick (they often do that) and a couple were ones I'd known already - that the members of the band are actually decent musicians and play/wrote the music on the soundtrack (and as we all know, the music from The Folksmen in
A Mighty Wind as well) and that much of the dialog is improvised (again, kinda a Guest staple). I knew that lots of folks thought Spinal Tap were a real band at the time (and I guess they ended up being one afterwards), but I'd never heard it put quite the way that IFC stated in their third fact: after the movie opened, people actually told Rob Reiner he should have chosen a more famous band to focus on.
